The anatomical cavities located near our molars are called sinus. The task of these cavities near our molars is important, as it is to ensure the formation of sound and decrease the head weight. The maxillary sinus is located just above the upper jaw. As a result of the downward sagging of the Sinus cavities, some loss in bone volume occurs. Although these losses are seen as a natural process, they pose a problem when it comes to implant treatment. The Sinus grafting process is used to apply implant treatment to toothless areas as a result of filling the sinus cavities that are sagging down.
A Sinus lift operation is a surgical procedure performed on the standard dentist's chair, usually under local anesthesia. The sinus area is lifted at the desired level and made accessible through a small window opened from inside the mouth in that area. After the desired rise is achieved in the sinus membrane that covers the inside of the sinus, bone powder and grafting are applied to the created cavity, and the area is closed by stitching.
After Sinus lift surgery, attention should be paid to eating with the other side of the mouth for 24 hours to protect the wound area. Nothing should be eaten or drunk for two hours after the procedure. After Sinus Lift operation, pressure should not be applied when cleaning the nose, and the mouth should be kept open when sneezing.
