WISDOM TEETH

WISDOM TEETH

Wisdom teeth are the third molars that complete their development between the ages of 17-26. There is no need to pull a healthy wisdom tooth out, which has taken her place in the right position. Wisdom teeth, in some cases, cannot come out due to a lack of space in the jaw. In addition, since it is located at the back of the jaw, hygiene cannot be provided easily. This condition can often lead to caries and can cause decay of the tooth on the neighboring tooth. Nevertheless, in cases such as swelling in the gums, pain in the throat and jaw, depending on the factors of narrowing in the tooth order, bone density or the existing root anatomy of the tooth, wisdom teeth can be completely removed or remain as fully-buried or semi-buried teeth in the jawbone.

What problems do wisdom teeth cause?

If you are experiencing a condition such as limited jaw range and you cannot pay enough attention to your oral health, it may be inevitable that your teeth will become inflamed. Following this, inflammation will also occur in the tissues around the tooth. Since wisdom teeth areas are the place where food excess is gathered the most, decays may occur if adequate care is not taken. These decays also cause a smell.

Is it necessary to have a wisdom tooth extracted?

Unless there is a very unusual situation, it is not necessary to have a wisdom tooth extracted. If it is decided for extraction while the tooth is being examined, some conditions are required for this. We can list them as follows;

  • Is there any pain problems with fully impacted teeth?
  • At what rate is the tooth impacted in the jawbone?
  • To what extent is the impacted tooth related to other teeth?
  • Will cysts occur due to impacted teeth?
  • Is there decay and abscess formation?

How are wisdom teeth extracted?

Tooth extraction is a fairly routine procedure. Your dentist will recommend that you are “put to sleep” with general anesthesia or that the area in your mouth is numbed with local anesthesia. A gauze cloth can be given to gently bite for 30 to 45 minutes to reduce bleeding that may occur after the tooth (or teeth) are extracted. Although pain or swelling may occur at first, this pain disappears within a few days. If the pain, bleeding, swelling, or fever is persistent or severe, you should consult your dentist. Extraction of wisdom teeth due to crowding or burial will not affect your future oral health or the way you close your mouth.
